Hawaii Surf Report & Forecast

Hawaii is the spiritual home of surfing, and its winter season is still the sport's main event. From roughly November to March, storms in the North Pacific send powerful north-west swells onto Oahu's North Shore, lighting up the Banzai Pipeline, Sunset Beach and, on the biggest days, Waimea Bay. On Maui, Pe'ahi (Jaws) only breaks properly on giant swells and is the domain of elite big-wave surfers. These are heavy waves over shallow reef, so unless you are an expert, enjoy the show from the beach.
